might be from one of your plugins, as those stray characters are within the area commonly used by plugins to add javascript via the ‘wp_footer()’ hook.
try to temporarily deactivate all plugins to see if that remove the stray characters; then reactivate one plugin at a time to locate the interfering plugin.

Thank you! It appears that Wp anything slider is the problem. The text being shown in that unnecessary white box is ‘;, and when I try to remove that from the Wp anything slider code, the plugin shuts off due to a “fatal error”.
