# Unknown WordPress core version: 4.7.1

 * I’m using the free version of WordFence and I got several warnings from WordFence
   from my sites stating they had Unknown WordPress core version: 4.7.1. Note that
   I have used ManageWP to update them. Can this be the reason? What does this mean
   exactly?

 * Hi,
 * This can happen for a short time after a new WordPress version is released, until
   we have a copy of the new version indexed on the Wordfence scan servers.
 * You might have seen the “Unknown WordPress core version” message in an email 
   from the Wordfence plugin (unless it’s also visible within ManageWP?) — if you
   log into the site and view the scan results on the Scan page, the full description
   says:
 * “The core files scan will not be run because this version of WordPress is not
   currently indexed by Wordfence. This may be due to using a prerelease version
   or because the servers are still indexing a new release. If you are using an 
   official WordPress release, this issue will automatically dismiss once the version
   is indexed and another scan is run.”
 * I confirmed that the new version has been indexed, so the message should no longer
   appear after the next scan is run on each site.
