# Unknown user name

 * having set up a wordpress.org site for a friend some years ago. Username is now
   lost, none of her or my email addresses are registered.
 * I see many posts about php admin but cant access that without a password or username
   so it seems a bit of a red herring or I am missing something
 * I don’t use code or understand it
 * Yesterday I navigated to a page which asked for the site name and gave me some
   authentication options one of which was the code ref provided when the domian
   was purchased. I think I may have this info but cannot seem to find the page 
   I found yesterday. Can anyone help
 * PLEASE NO MORE suggestions to lookit up in the admin table…because I CANNOT LOG
   IN

    U have check
   username using on your database. Also change password with md5 encryption.

 * If you cannot log into the the dashboard then that’s really your only recourse.

 * Thanks – As I said; yesterday I really easily navigated to page that asked me
   for my web address, an working email and 3 different forms of identification/
   authentication anyone know where this page was ?

 * All WordPress sites use a database. It is impossible to run WordPress without
   a database. Try asking your hosts for assistance in locating your site’s database.
