Unknown cookies discovered on all my sites: “undefined”, “icwp-wpsf”

    Hello, Complianz team!

    Just wanted to let you know that on all the websites I build, the scanner always detects these two cookies:

    undefined
    icwp-wpsf

    None of these have any information associated with them on cookiedatabase.org, and I was unable to find any further info about them online.

    Here’s the set of plugins I use on all of my projects:

    I used Yoast before switching to Rank Math last month. The cookies were discovered then, too.

    Perhaps these are false positives? Either way, I have trouble explaining them in my cookie policy. 🙂

    Hi @mrmatteastwood,

    I visited some pages on your site and I did not detect these two cookies on the front-end. I did find that the icwp-wpsf cookie must be from the ‘Shield’ plugin (ICWP stands for ‘IcontrolWP’, who created the plugin).

    It seems that these two cookies are not placed with front-end users of your site, and therefore don’t need to be explained on your Cookie Policy. You can uncheck the ‘display on Cookie Policy’ checkbox in the Complianz wizard, under Cookies -> Used Cookies.

    You can confirm my test (also for your other sites) by visiting your sites incognito or using a browser with cookies cleared, and then right-click -> inspect -> Application -> cookies, local storage and session storage.

    Hey Leon, thanks for your quick and detailed reply. I was not aware of that article in your knowledgebase, it’s very helpful!

    Gonna remove those cookies from the policy, then.
