    Hi!

I have the option selected: Unique String after the Filename (woocommerce_downloads_add_hash_to_filename) in WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Downloadable products.

But it doesn’t work. Files download without random string.

Do you know what I can do to fix it?

    Hi there,

Once that setting is activated, a random strings is added as you upload your digital downloadable file. Turning this setting on or off doesn’t affect existing links.

Try to activate the setting, then upload a file. For example, if you have a file called my-file.jpg, after uploading it should be renamed to something like my-file-hqngvk.jpg.

You’ll find more detail in the docs in the section Unique String after the Filename.

Let us know how it goes.

So the file name is changed only once while uploading? Not every time when it is downloaded?

    That’s correct.

But it doesn’t mean anyone with the link will be able to download your file though. In the Digital/Downloadable Product Handling docs there are instructions for how to configure your store so that only logged-in users who have purchased the product, can download the file(s).

Give it a try, and if you have more specific questions about this, do let us know.
