I've started putting together a WordPress site for Cowley County in Kansas. With all of the departments and elected offices, there's going to be a lot of pages. Multiple pages per department. We're doing this so that department heads can begin editing their own department pages directly instead of having to submit everything to me.
Some departments would be better suited having a mix of pages and posts (categories). For example, our Sheriff's department: I can envision an "About Us" page, A Drug Task Force page, etc. However, we also currently have a Cowley's 10 Most Wanted list. What I'd like to do is have each Most Wanted criminal be a blog post within a Category called "wanted" or something like that. I can then have my posts for all 10 show up using a category link. It would be very easy for department heads to modify each individual criminal.
I'd like to use a similar setup for the Vendors we use in the IT department.
What I need is the ability to create a custom menu for each department that mixes Pages and Categories... but only shows up on the pages I want it to.
I've tried a few different plugins that let me put custom menus on certain pages, but for the life of me I can't find one that lets me put categories in as well. Hopefully all of this makes sense, and hopefully someone can give me some insight on this! Thanks!
