Ummmm…. you’ll have to delete all wordpress files and delete your database or tables for wordpress.
If you installed WordPress using an automated script (like Fantastico or Simple Scripts), you should also be able to uninstall it from inside your web hosting control panel. For example, if you installed with Fantastico on cpanel, go to cpanel > Fantastico > WordPress (from left menu) > then click Remove. You will not see remove links if you didn’t install WordPress from Fantastico. Check out this related screencast:
If you used a different installer, you can probably check with your web host for help uninstalling.
If you installed manually, then you can uninstall by deleting the WordPress files and the related database tables like samboll says.
I have had a problem with my new blog. I loaded wordpress and then was unable to get into my admin or the actual site. My hosting guys resolved some problem with the index file but i still have a site that looks like it is just typed. So i thought i would uninstall wordpress (As suggested by the hosting support team). Now my challenge is uninstalling. I have followed your instructions ‘designsimply’ but unfortunately it did not work.
I went to fantastico, clicked ‘prepare wordpress for removal’, then once finished, clicked ‘remove press’. Nothing happened. So i clicked wordpress from the left side menu and it shows as loaded on my site.
I am a damsel in distress (well sort of – i would love to get my site up and running…and just dont really know enough to resolve this issue)
My site is http://www.magiccoffeesession.com
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
I am also having an issue uninstalling.
I installed WordPress and everything was working fine, but then I decided I wanted it in the main domain instead of a sub domain (probably stupid in retrospect), so I tried moving all the files. This has stuffed something up because all the files assume everything is in the sub domain. This is no huge deal as I havn’t lost anything, and I figure deleting everything then installing again will work, but then when I try to access install.php after the second install it’s telling me that it’s already installed, but it still won’t let me logon. 🙁
Thanks in advance for any help.
With 1Click Uninstaller it will be very easy.
Wrong. That application is used to remove a program from a personal computer – not an application installed on a hosted server.
All they need to do is use their FTP program to delete all the WP folders and core files from the root directory, then delete the databse from their admin panel.
