Support » Everything else WordPress » (Unimportant) bug? Available updates count

  • Ever since I remember the WP Admin bar existing and reporting available updates it would always count 1 extra update available update on the backend OR one less available update on the front end.
My particular WP installation that is my pride and joy is always at least in need of two updates: WordPress itself and Buddypress as I couldn’t be arsed doing over the revisions I’ve made to those two softwares, so I suspect the extra update it’s reporting on the backend is WordPress itself.

What do you guys make of this?

That would be correct. Front end shows plugins, backend shows everything.

Frontend shows themes as well because the item count only ever differs by 1.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. It was one of those things that would keep coming up in my mind and making me wonder. I’d say if I live to be 70 and the world changed irremediably, it would have still come up in my mind as one of those annoying unsolved mysteries.
