Support » Plugin: Events Manager » Unformatted events list on single category page

  • Resolved sankari

    I need help with an issue of how an events list is displayed on a single category page.

    As per the the documentation the placeholder #_CATEGORYNEXTEVENTS should show a list of all future events with this category and the formatting of the list should be the same as a normal events list. However, it’s not shown as a list but as one single string (pattern: [Title]-[Date]-[Time][Title]-[Date]-[Time]), so without any tags or separators.

    Maybe this is the same topic as this one which remained unsolved?

  • I am not part of support.. just some dude..
    Good job on doing some research on the topic before asking the question 🙂

    either using your own html formating… or something similar in the link you provided..
    See if going into setting will solve your problem.

    Admin Settings -> Events
    click the tab Formatting
    scroll down to Event Categories click and it will expand…
    and you should be able to put in the formating for the event list for the individual Category’s Page.
    You’ll probably put your code in the Events List Formats section.

    It’s very similar to how you would have set up your default Events List…
    but now it’s for the individual Category.

    Good luck hope that helps.

    @robswaimea Thanks very much for your kind reply and suggestion.

    Actually, the category list appears in a formattted manner on the web page but the single category page doesn’t.

    The default settings of the single category page are:

    Page title format for single category:

    Page formatting for single category:

    But that’s not what appears on the webpage: H3 tags are missing and the output of #_CATEGORYNEXTEVENTS is completely unformatted.

    Here is a sample of how the code of the web page actually looks like:

    <article id="post-15" class="grid post-15 page type-page status-publish hentry">
    <header class="entry-header">
    <h2 class="entry-title"><a href="https://domain.tld/categories/" rel="bookmark">Concerts</a></h2></header><!-- .entry-header -->
    <div class="entry-summary"><p>Next eventsConcert 1 – Monday, 18.12.2017 – 20:00Concert 2 – Monday, 22.01.2018 – 20:00Concert 3 – Monday, 29.01.2018 – 20:00 </p>
    <p><a class="more-link" href="https://domain.tld/events/categories/">Continue Categories</a></p>
    </div><footer class="entry-footer">
    	</footer><!-- .entry-footer -->
    </article><!-- #post-## -->

    I modified the content of the h3 title to see if it goes through to the web page, and it does. But somehow the system removes all markup…

    It’s possible this is a conflict caused by your theme or another plugin. To check if it is, can you test with all other plugins deactivated and while running the default WordPress theme?

    @caimin_nwl Thank you for your reply.

    The theme in use is called Deejay, by @poena. By switching to a default WordPress theme the formatting works.

    What’s the procedure to resolve the issue in such a case?

    Deejay does not include a template for single categories, it fallbacks to index.php, which uses content.php.

    It only displays excerpts for archives, not the full content, perhaps that is what you are seeing.

    @poena Oh I see, thank you.

    And how can we create the template to avoid single event category pages fallingback to index.php (where and name)?
    Why doesn’t it fallback to the archive.php?

    I tried reading the documentation and tried looking through the plugin code but I could not figure out what the plugins custom taxonomy name for the event categories are.
