understanding code

  • I’m starting to understand the workings behind wordpress, the loop, etc, but one thing I can’t seem to figure out is how does the browser know where to put the header, footer, sidebar and the like in the right spots? All I see in the code is get this and get that, no layout paramaters.

  • Those ‘get_this’ and ‘get_that’ are functions defined in the WP core files (in the “engine”).
    The “layout parameters” are defined in the stylesheet, e.g.
    You use the ‘get_sidebar’ function which will call for your sidebar.php template file and in there you have various divs and lists… and their look is defined in the style.css.
