Uncheck ‘Enable payments via saved cards’ is causing transaction to fail

I have enabled 3 payment pathways, credit card, cash-on-delivery and POLi (via an plugin extension – is a direct bank transfer gateway used in NZ).
With ‘Enable payments via saved cards’ checked, everything works fine with all 3 pathways.
With ‘Enable payments via saved cards’ UNchecked, only the Credit card pathway works. When selecting the other pathways I get a spinning wheel of death that never goes away.
Have you any idea what is going on?

– removing the POLI plugin does not solve the problem.

I took a look into this on my site, however, the other payment methods (Cash on Delivery) still show on checkout even when I uncheck Enable payments via saved cards in WooCommerce Payments: https://d.pr/v/fpklPz

In order to investigate this properly, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

It would also be really helpful if you could do some conflict testing, as explained here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/
This will help determine if the issue is plugin/theme related.

Hi Joash,

Thanks for you prompt reply. I watched your video clip. I should have specified that it is only when pressing ‘Pay for Order’ after selecting a payment method other than ‘card’ that the process hangs.

I deactivated all plugins except ‘Car Rental Booking System’. same result.

A cannot deactivate CRBS because that is what is creating the order. Could there be something amiss with the order that is causing the process to hang? It is odd, though, that it works ok with ‘saved card’ option enabled. That’s why I suspected a problem with WC Payments. I could probably figure a way of capturing the order in the debug log if you think it would be helpful.

I will leave the WC payments in ‘Test Mode’ tonight (NZ time). Feel free to make a booking if you want to see the problem.

Hi @jerrystewart99,

I tried a test rental and it just hangs and surprisingly there are no console errors. Is it possible that the CRBS plugin needs a saved card for all card transactions because it’s saving the cards for blocking a deposit?

It would be great to review the debug logs to understand what is going on.

At what point did it hang? I didn’t see any bookings going through.

I’m pretty sure that CRBS has no knowledge of Cards, it is simply delegating payments to WC. I have isolated a CRBS method (oops, I mean function) that seems to be doing the heavy lifting. I have added some debug (error_log(xxx ) lines in.

There are copious php errors and warnings that CRBS generates that are not related to this issue as far as I can see.
There is a lot of information, sorry.
Is there anything in there that is likely to be causing problems?

It hung after I clicked the button to pay. I used the name as “Test User”. Did nothing capture at all?

Thanks for the log. That’s a lot of information. I’m not an expert at the code, but from what I see in the logs, looks like the plugin is capturing payment information such as payment method, transaction id and more. It’s not really sure why this information is required by the plugin.

Could we do a quick test? Disable all plugins (including CRBS) except for WooCommerce and WooCommerce Payments, just create a simple test product and try to purchase that product to see if that works as expected without hanging when saved card options are disabled?

Do keep us posted on how this troubleshooting works out for you.
