# “Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined” error

 * Hello,
 * when activating the Optimize JavaScript Code option, I keep getting the following
   error:
    “Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined”
 * I have excluded js/jquery/jquery.js from Autoptimize, but I still get this error.
   As a test I have also exlucluded all .js files and/or removed most of the modules,
   but still got the same error
 * Can you please advice or point me in the right direction, please

 * afternoon Catalin;
    you’re running a plugin (wp rocket?) that is changing the
   name of the js (and css) files. in this case jquery is loaded from `wp-content/
   cache/busting/1/wp-includes-js-jquery-jquery-1.12.4.js`, so you’ll have either
   disable that feature in that other plugin OR tell AO to exclude `wp-includes-
   js-jquery-jquery-1.12.4.js` (which you might have to tweak when the version string
   in there changes).

 * Adding `js/jquery/jquery.js` to Autoptimize’s comma-separated JavaScript Optimization
   exclusion list should fix the issue (be sure to clear WP Rocket’s cache).
