• After reading EVERY thread on here and several on other forums listed in Google pertaining to multiple blog installs, I still can’t get WP to load onto a second db. It keeps on filling in the info from my other dbase install, no matter how many times I type in the new dbase name and different host IP. I’ve reinstalled and deleted the folder about four or five times. I even tossed the new dbase and made another. I’ve done everything I could possibly do for about 3 or 4 hours, and I’m about ready to toss it and leave WP for good 😛

There is no chance of me trying WPMu. I’m not even touching it. That stuff is no good for anyone who’s not an experienced server admin. The code looked like some hieroglyphics or something…!

Once again, let me emphasize, before someone flames me, that I have read every forum on here, and several others, for about 3 to 4 hours tonight. I’ve seen some really, er, tense conversations between newbies and experienced users on these forums.

Thank you for whatever help you can offer…I would surely, surely appreciate it 🙂

  • Did you modify your wp-config file?

Yeah…I put the new dbase name, user, pword, everything…I don’t get it. It just rejects it.

Thanks for the help, by the way…!

Okay, so you’re trying to use separate installs of wp, with separate databases, in separate folders?

    Yep, separate everything.

I tried installing a completely fresh upload of the new version. It won’t even take that.

I tried renaming wp-config.php, wp-config2.php, and changed the install files to suit the name change. Didn’t work.

I really don’t get it. I’m about to scrap the second install and just use another platform.

Are you sure you have a second database actually available? Some hosts allow only one db. And perhaps double-check with your host just to make sure nothing wonky is going on for some reason.

If your host provides Fantastico, try doing two subfolder installs using it.

If you have only one database available, you might be able to get around that by giving your second install DB tables a different prefix than the first instal.

Nope…the second db is set up and good to go. My acct allows me up to 10.

I don’t know. I’m going to write to the person who installed my first blog. Maybe he can help…:(
