Unable to upgrade WordPress | WordPress.org

I’m continuing to run into a series of errors when trying to upgrade WordPress automatically, including the latest update made available for 4.4. My WordPress website is being hosted in-house.

The error states:

WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.

Error: update.php on line 115

It also adds a “Permission denied” error on line 464 on wp-admin\includes\file.php

Would installing the new files manually fix this issue or is this an issue on my end with the hosting?

Sorry you are having issues. Yes, manually upgrading is usually the most reliable way to upgrade. The connection error may be due to port 22 not being open for outgoing connections or timeout was been reach. I receive the error from time to time on my local environment.

Make sure taking backup of your site before updating
