  • Resolved picturehelp

Wordfence recently completed a scan which amongst other issues alerted me to 17 plugins needing updating. However since our site was compromised a couple of months ago the option to update plugins, themes, and even activated plugins themselves have been completely hidden in the dashboard. For example, Theme Authentication Checker is activated but there’s no way for me to access it at all.

When following the wordfence link to update plugins I was met with ‘Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page’.

I’m looking for help troubleshooting why I can’t update my plugins and why some of them seem to be hidden – I don’t come from a webdevelopment background and I don’t believe our website has had a dedicated developer so it’s a struggle to understand what the issues are. Any help would be appreciated.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • if you have the admin account, you should be able to see the plugins option and update.. unless you have a plugin that alters your administrative rights. Can you check if there is a plugin that controls roles and access rights? If so, you can deactivate it / rename it via Cpanel or FTP.

I don’t have any such plugin as far as I’m aware, and the issue has persisted after the plugins have all been deactivated. I’m definitely on an admin account and have been able to access these buttons before our site was compromised
