    Background:
Launched a new website last week that seemed to be working fine until I attempted to make some edits. I can make changes to any interior page fine, but the home page will not update no matter what I do. The homepage is a static page using a custom template built with ACF fields. I also tried changing the Reading settings to point to an interior page just to see if the homepage would change at all. It still displayed the old homepage content.

    Caching:
I had installed WP Cache plugin. But once I noticed the homepage failing to update, I deleted/cleared the cache, deactivated the plugin and eventually deleted it. Then I replaced the .htaccess file to also address the issue, without any luck. Oh, in regards to browser caching, I run Chrome Incognito with a Cache Killer plugin running, so pretty sure that’s not an issue.

    Plugins:
Because this is a “live” site, I could not deactivate all the plugins. Only the essential plugins are running just to display content.

Bottom Line: Nothing I do changes the content or the source code displayed on the homepage. It’s as if the page is frozen. Pointing to a different page as the “homepage” does not work either. I’ve contacted my hosting support team regarding a caching issue server side, but that’s not it.

As this point, I’m open to just about any idea. So fire away.

    Thanks.

    – Try flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. If your host provider has a “Purge Varnish” option or if you can ask your provider to flush memcache on your server. If you are using SiteLock, manage your caching there.
manually resetting the plugin folder by FTP/ SFTP (no Dashboard access required). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks, I’ll try those and we’ll see what happens.

The WP Cache caching plugin was cleared, deactivated and then deleted.

I also disabled the Advanced Custom Fields Pro plugin that basically runs the site, and still the homepage was displaying, even though all other pages would not. I can not reset the plugins folder via FTP, although I tried. But I did login to the admin, deactivate all plugins, and then reactivate the minimal required.

Hosting support have flushed any cache for the site and reset the app pool in IIS. (Windows hosting running Linux VM I guess).

My question now would be, if I create a new installation of WP, import the DB, content, and theme, what are the chances that I’ll have the same issue? I’m running out of options on a site that cant be updated on the homepage.
