Support » Plugin: WPCasa » Unable to update Legacy WP CASA to WordPress 4.7

When attempting to update to the latest WordPress on a legacy Wp Casa site we run into “fatal error, call to undefined function” errors.

Before anyone says “why not update to the current WP Casa?” We haven’t been able to update this site to the new WP Casa yet as all the original features have yet to be implemented in the plugin version, specifically the ability to display sold listings on a separate map.

    Hello Howard,

this is an issue which came along with WordPress 4.7. Since we’ve now a new version of WPCasa we do not maintain the old one since last Summer and that’s the reason this issue came up. But don’t worry – nothing is lost – it’s just invisible at the moment. To solve this issue please simply install and activate this Hotfix Plugin.

    All the best,
    Joe [WPCasa]

    Hey Joe,
Thanks for the fix, looks like it worked on the clone of our live site. Well done.

Is there any chance you’ll be getting to the shortcomings of the plugin version any time soon? I’d sorely love to get this site migrated to the new plugin architecture.

I can’t get to the plugins page at all to install the fix, getting the

“Fatal error: Call to undefined function wpcasa_get_option() in /home1/x6806909/public_html/www.inmovillasdenia.com/wp-content/plugins/wpcasa-energy-efficiency/plugin.php on line 150” error.

    Hello Howard,

I’m not quite sure what shortcomings you refer to exactly but we’re currently working on various improvments. It will still take some time but around spring we should be ready.

    All the best,

    Hello Steve,

    you might want to:

    1. connect to your webserver through FTP and browse to wp-content/plugins.
    2. Rename the folder wpcasa-energy-efficiency to something else (eg. __wpcasa-energy-efficiency)
    3. Then try to reload your admin backend. With that procedure you basically manually deactivate a plugin.
    4. You should then be able to browse to the plugins page in your backend where a notification pops up, notifying you about that the wpCasa Energy Efficiency Plugin has been deactivated.
    5. Now you can install the Hotfix Plugin and activate it.
    6. And last but not least you can rename the wpcasa-energy-efficiency folder back and try to re-activate it.

    All the best,
    Joe [WPCasa]

    Thanks for the hotfix @joehana
