We’ve been using the Virtue Theme from kadence for a while with a Blog homepage. Recently we decided to create a home page to display other data. We used the Pagebuilder to create the page as suggested by Kadence.

We then follow the instructions on their site to set up the static page. Unfortunately it always displays the blog instead of the static page. This is the process that we followed:
    Create the Homepage
Then navigated to Settings=>Reading=>Selected option for static page and selected new home page.
Then we went to Theme Options>Home Layout=>Homepage Layout Manager=>Enabled Page Content
Saved the settings and…the Blog displays as our Homepage.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Hello,

I’m still seeing the blog page being selected as your home page. Did you clear your site’s cache after making the change?

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your prompt response. Yes, I cleared the Cache, used different browsers, and still the same result. I just changed it back to a static page, take a look and let know what else I can do.

I’m seeing that you’ve assigned a static page, but your page content is still outputting your blog. what have you added to your page builder content?

That’s the problem, the page itself was build with SiteOrigin and it includes a few paragraphs, pictures, and videos. For unknown reasons the static page defaults to the blog.

If I switch it back to the blog then you can display the content of the desired page from the menu, but we like it to be the default and not have to click on the home menu item to get it.

    Hey,
It looks like your using an edited version of the theme with the folder called “HungryGopher” and it looks like you got this when the theme was on version 2.4.3 and the current version of the theme is 3.1.8

So have you been manually updating your edited theme? What changes did you make to begin with when deciding to move the entire theme into your own custom folder?

    Hi @alortiz3,
From your static home edit page, when you preview the page does it show you the content of that page, or your blog? What all do you have enabled in the homepage layout manager in theme options > home layout?

When I preview the page it displays the right content. But when I set it as a static page then it displays the blog. I have the home layout set up for “Content”.

    Ben,

We have not made any updates to the Theme since it was initially installed. We created the new folder with the purpose of setting up the header area.

    Hey,

So my suggestion is to update to the latest version 3.1.8 and then carefully through a child theme (not by overriding the whole theme), make the changes you want to make to the files you need to change. We can help direct you with this if you give details about the changes you want to make.

But since I can’t see what code you changed and I can’t recreate your issue in the theme I have to assume something in your edits is causing the issue you are seeing. So you can test this by simply installing the latest version and activating.

    Does that make sense?

I will try your suggestion and report back. Thank you for taking the time to address this issue.

I was able to solve this issue by creating a redirect index.html file pointing to the right page and setting the site back to latest posts. Now that the site is displaying the right content I can duplicate the site and begin the theme update process.

I truly appreciate your help and support!
