Support » Plugin: WP Mail SMTP by WPForms » Unable to send mail since PHPMailer Update

  • Hello there,
    I’m using the latest WP version and the latest WP SMTP version.
    Since the WORDPRESS update 4.7.1, I don’t receive the e-mails anymore.
    From my dedicated server, I can successfully send e-mails from another website which don’t use the plugin, so my setup is still correct.
    I’m using ElasticEmail to send the mail and here is the debug info :

    bject(PHPMailer)#19211 (76) {
    [“Version”]=>
    string(6) “5.2.22”
    [“Priority”]=>
    NULL
    [“CharSet”]=>
    string(5) “UTF-8”
    [“ContentType”]=>
    string(10) “text/plain”
    [“Encoding”]=>
    string(4) “7bit”
    [“ErrorInfo”]=>
    string(35) “SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.”
    […]

    I double checked the credentials, everything is working outside of the plugin, nothing was changed before it stopped to send the mails.
    Can someone help me please?
    Regards,
    John

    We are having this same issue, but are connected to Mandrill. It looks like the 4.7.1 update caused the emails to stop sending.

    Hopefully the plugin author will release a fix for this soon. Thanks for the great tool.

    For anyone using Mandrill, since this hasn’t been fixed I think we’re switch to Mandrill’s official WordPress plugin at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpmandrill/. It hasn’t been updated in a while, but it still appears to be working well.

    @atx What settings are you using for Encryption and Authentication?
