Unable to resubscribe with free products

I run a multi woo commerce site with subscriptions and manual payments turned off.

I have on occasion given customers 100% discounts. When a customer uses 100% discount they don’t need to enter their card details which means the subscription gets put down as a manual payment in the dashboard.

The problem comes when a customer wants to cancel their subscription but then wants to resubscribe. They can’t. That action isn’t available and i am unable to change their subscription status in the dashboard.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and might have a fix for it without turning on manual payments?
