Hello,

I have a site that was using an old version of your CAPTCHA plugin. Somehow this plugin seems to have gotten corrupted, so I then completely removed it from the wordpress directory. However, I am still getting the prompt with a mathematical question by the server BEFORE it will even show the wp-admin login page.

I have tried looking in wp-login.php to find the cause, but to no avail. Any help appreciated since the only option left would be to delete the installation and start from scratch. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It seems like there was a brute force attack on your site and your hosting provider set the appropriate protection, which has nothing to do with our Captcha. This is a common problem – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/server-under-attack-requires-username-captcha-and-password.

Please contact you hosting provider with this issue.
