Hello, @anafasia
The “Destination folder already exists.” is likely the issue here. Either you or your hosting provider can use File Manager or FTP to go into the wp-content/plugins folder and delete the wordfence folder in there. After you do that, you should be able to download and install Wordfence again from your Plugins section.
We recommend making backups prior to making changes like those I mentioned above, so keep that in mind.
Please let me know if that helps or if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Scott
thanks a lot, Scott.
the people from my hosting succeeded in restoring the plug-in.
as I didn’t configure it -someone did that job for me- and it seems that the existing settings were restored correctly after reinstalling, could I ignnore the following warning without taking a risk?
To make your site as secure as possible, take a moment to optimize the Wordfence Web Application Firewall:
If you cannot complete the setup process, click here for help(opens in new tab).
Thanks for confirming.
We do recommend optimizing the Wordfence firewall. If possible, make a complete site backup, then start through the optimization process in Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options > Protection Level > Optimize Wordfence Firewall button. Here is some documentation on that: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/
That process will have you save a backup of at least one file, then you will be able to proceed. If you run into any issues with the site after the optimization with the site not being accessible, you’ll want to revert the optimization with the following process: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#removing-the-optimization
Thanks,
Scott
hi, Scott. I have run the optimization and apparently it worked as now the warning has disappeared. thanks.
Thanks for confirming, @anafasia
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks,
Scott
It looks like after optimizing scans stopped working.
I get this warning:
`Scan Failed
The scan has failed because we were unable to contact the Wordfence servers. Some sites may need adjustments to run scans reliably. Click here for steps you can try.(opens in new tab)
The error returned was:
There was an error connecting to the Wordfence scanning servers: error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/certificates/ca-bundle.crt CApath: /etc/ssl/certs`
Thanks for reporting the issue.
Are you seeing SSL mentions for any errors in your connectivity area in Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Connectivity currently?
Thanks,
Scott
it looks that it was a simple issue.
I don’t know how but ca-bundle.crt was renamed as ca-bundle.crt2. restored its name, it seems the issue is solved. at least till now.
