• I am unable to edit my products or navigate around the back end of my site in many areas. What happens is the screen greys out and a busy window appears in the middle of my screen with a rotating horizontal bar (like a barber’s shop pole). This does not disappear no matter how long i wait. This has been the case now for about 4 weeks.
The back end of my site is un-useable
Any suggestions on what to do would be a help
The front of the site seems to working okay.
    thanks

  • Try deactivating your plugins and/or switching to the Twenty Twelve theme.

Thanks for your tips – but I cant even navigate to the plugins or the themes because of this problem. Any attempt to do so gives the stupid busy window as described above. I’m thinking the site may have been hacked or something.

Try using FTP or Cpanel to rename your plugins folder to plugins.HOLD.

Just as another point – everytime I access anything to do with WordPress I get annoying pop ups on my screen. This does not happen with none WordPress sites. ?????

What is your site URL? Have you scanned it for hacking?

I access anything to do with WordPress

Your site? Or do you mean this site? Have you tried another browser?

I will try through Control Panel & try a scan – thx.
I have now stopped the pop ups – somehow my Firefox settings had been altered, but all good now. I have been in touch with my web hoster but so far they have not been much help – they experienced the same problem in accessing the back end of the site as I did.
