Most recently I was attempting to adjust my favicon b/c it was not updating. I ended up in general settings of my wordpress.org dashboard and changed the wordpress url to my old http://www.optometryceo.wordpress.com (don't ask me why, I am upset at myself). Since then I can not login to the self-hosted dashboard, it continues to point me to the wordpress.com. Please help as my blog looks as though both self-hosted and .com (old blog) are overlapping. My website is http://www.optometryceo.com Thank you in advance for your help and please know that I have minimal understanding of codex and html. Thank you.

  2. changed the wordpress url to my old

That's not good... Give this a read on how to reset it without a working WordPress dashboard.

Personally I like this method myself.

If you do use that method, please make sure you make a backup copy of wp-content/themes/mantra/functions.php before editing it.

Additionally, if you do edit that file, just make the top of it look like these lines.

Then visit http://www.optometryceo.com/ and the options should be put back. If you can get in after that then put back the old wp-content/themes/mantra/functions.php file.

First of all, Jan, Thank you! I am stressed about this and don't like admitting that this portion is above my head. :) If you have the time and heart to help me could you step through where I need to go. I am not sure where my files are at? I can only get into my wordpress.com account, is the .php in there? Thank you in advance for your compassion . :)

If you follow the instructions in http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL#Edit_functions.php slowly and carefully, you can do this yourself. All you will need is access to FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides) and a plain text editor (to open the downloaded file and make the necessary changes.

I ended up calling Bluehost and there customer service helped me out. The above did not work but I'm sure it was me and not the directions. Thank you all.
