Unable to login after moving site from subdirectory to root
-
I just followed these instructions and got to step 7 and am unable to login: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install. My situation is exactly the same as in the example; I previously installed WordPress at /wordpress and am trying to take the site “live” by moving it to the root.
I realized that in step 2, I accidentally changed both the Site Address and Blog Address to http://domain.com when I should have only changed the Site Address, so I went into my database and changed the siteurl option_value to http://domain.com/wordpress and the home option_value to http://domain.com. Even after making that correction, when I try to login, I don’t get any error messages, it just keeps sending me back to http://domain.com/wordpress/wp-login.php.
When I try to visit the site at http://domain.com/wordpress, Safari gives me this error: “Too many redirects occurred trying to open the page.”
(It might be worth noting that I have a site already in the root and I am trying to replace it with the WordPress one. I renamed the index.shtml file to index.shtmll so I don’t think there’s a conflict there.)
Any advice?!
