Support » Plugin: Facebook Chat Plugin - Live Chat Plugin for WordPress » Unable to Log In to Messenger

  • Hi,

Chat is not working on my websites. I am unble to login. I get a popup after I click on Chat, that says “Tap to go back to facebook.com/v2.12/plugins/…” which shuts itself down in a few seconds.

This is happening with both, directly from the plugin or if I add the code by hand.

Also, it’s not happening only on this website but also in http://satsangwellness.com, which was working properly until some days ago.

    Hi JustJo,

I’m sorry you are running into this issue. I’d like to work with you to debug it.

I see you have reported 2 sites facing this issue:
    https://raeroach.com
    http://satsangwellness.com

Both of them have the Messenger customer chat plugin installed. That is great.
When I try to visit the websites logged into Facebook, I am greeted with the “Chat Now” button. I click on that button and I see a popup asking me to “Continue as…” This is expected behavior.

When I am logged out of Facebook, I see a button that says “Chat”. Clicking on it opens a popup asking me to login to Facebook. After successful login, the window closes and the Messenger customer chat plugin shows “Chat Now”.

What are you seeing? Which step of the process is broken for you currently?
If the issue is no longer there, I can resolve this ticket.

    Thank you,
    Facebook

Thanks for responding, the issue is still there. You can see the screenshots at https://prnt.sc/l18sc6 and https://prnt.sc/l18t7v. I am logged in into Facebook and messenger

    Thanks!

This is super helpful. A few more follow up questions:
    – The Messenger customer chat plugin shows “Chat” instead of “Chat Now”. This implies you are not logged into Facebook at the moment. In the screenshots you shared, are you logged into Facebook on that browser/session?
    – What happens when you click “Done” on the popup? Does it close and log you in?
    – What browser and operating system are you using?
    – Do you have any extensions on your browser running? Please share them all here.

Look forward to your response. Thank you!

I have tried with Safari and Chrome and I have the same problem with both.
I am logged into Facebook on both while trying the chat.
When I click done the popup closes and nothig happens.
I haven’t added any new extensions and the ones I have are: RSS Menu, Pin it Button, Save to Pocket, Honey and Grammarly.

I had exactly the same issue. After hours i came to the solution.
Clear history and try again… 😉

    Hi justjo,

We have a fix coming that might help the issue you are running into. However, we are having a hard time reproducing your exact issue. The popup that shows up when you click “Chat”, anyway you can get us the URL for that popup? Also, what device are you using (PC, iPad, Macbook, etc.)?

    Thank you for your patience!
