Looks like the gigpress plugin is tossing errors. Please try these steps to get around that.

    1. Using FTP or whatever file management tools your host has provided you with navigate to the wp-content/plugins directory.
    2. Once there locate and delete the gigpress directory. Just that one directory and nothing else.
    3. Try and re-login to your WordPress dashboard.

The reason I am suggesting to delete it is so that you can get back into your WordPress dashboard.

If that works then try re-installing that plugin again.

Just get ready to delete it again if that doesn’t resolve the problem.

Jan – thanks for your reply. I’ll try that now.

OK – apologies for appearing ignorant. I understand what you are saying about using FTP to get to the directory, but my hoster (LCN.com) doesn’t offer tools and it seems that I can’t access the the site via FTP – Filezilla times out.

I am using my domain name (www.tah-uk.com) as the host name and giving my wordpress username and password as connection details.

Can I trouble you for any suggestions as to how I might resolve this?

I think the best way to fix this for now would be for you to contact your host and show them this topic.

Right now that plugin is stopping you from logging into your WordPress dashboard. Without you being able to delete that one subdirectory (just that one and nothing else) you’re really hampered. Your host provider should be able to do that quickly enough or let you know how you can do that using some other file management tool such as cPanel.

Jan – after a few hours of poking and playing I have found the solution and my site is back up. I would not have found the solution without your advice – heartfelt thanks.
