Support » Networking WordPress » Unable to Enable Multisite

  • Resolved jotunar

I am using a version of WordPress that was originally installed without Multisite functionality. We now wish to install BuddyPress and allow users to create their own blogs & profiles…etc. Their documentation says that we need the Multisite feature enabled, so we set about making this happen.

I opened up the wp-config.php file and added the required define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true); above the “Stop editing” line.

This have me a “Network Setup” choice under the Tools menu just as it was supposed to.

When I try to use this selection I get the following warning:
Warning: Please deactivate your plugins before enabling the Network feature.

As a result, I am unable to continue with the setup, and make the necessary modifications to my .htaccess file to get this working…etc.

I have seen this mentioned a few times in the forums, but there haven’t been and real solutions for it. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

  • This did indeed require all plugins to be deactivated before the setup could be continued. Once this was done, Network Setup continued normally.
