There are two separate links:
This is for the post type (for the title, post content and thumbnail, as if it were a post):
https://intranetssl.net/lana-download/securent-intranetssl-intermediate-certificate/
So this is a subpage.
This is for download (for the file itself):
https://intranetssl.net/download/securent-intranetssl-intermediate-certificate/
this redirects the file to download
You can manage these slugs in Downloads > Settings.
To download the file, always use “Download Permalink”, which is what you will find on the edit page.
Or in the Downloads list, the URL field is also the download permalink.
/lana-download/
– for post type view
/download/
– for file download
There may be another permalink problem.
To solve this, Settings > Permalink and click the “Save Changes” button, which will update the permalink system to WordPress.
Is the problem solved? Or do you still need help?
This is very confusing.
1. When I insert a link with link like this – https://intranetssl.net/download/root-ca/ Upon Publish and clicking link we get this error: No download_id defined.
2. When I insert a link like this – https://intranetssl.net/download/343/
Upon Publish and clicking link we get error “No file URL defined. Go to homepage”
3. When I insert a link like this – https://intranetssl.net/lana-download/root-ca/ Upon Publish and clicking link I am shown a page with link for Root-CA. When I click on it the text file is getting downloaded. But, this is a two step process.
What I want is that when I click on the link system should directly download the text file. In other words, it should not open a download link page.
How to do this?
As I see it in your settings, you did not specify the file in the File URL
, but in the description.

Current settings in ‘Download’ are shown below for ref.

Okay, the settings are OK.
But please take a look at the screenshot I sent. It’s about what’s the problem. You have entered the file URL in the wrong field when editing your post.
Hello,
Still I’m unable to understand. I get the point that URL needs to be written against “File” but where? In “Download” or in the “Page”?
Is it possible for your write a clear description from beginning – how does one use your plug-in?
It’s usage is so confusing.
Did you look at the screenshot?
You can find it here:
Admin > Downloads > Root CA > Edit
You specified the file in the description. That’s wrong.
You need to enter the file in the meta field below, which says File (URL)
.
Yes. I have got it now.
But, I really wish that you write in simple English how to use your add-in in WordPress.
Okay, thanks for the suggestion, I’ll be working on the description of how to use the plugin.
I will expand the plugin description later to make it easier for users to understand.
Suppose in Settings I select End Point type as “Slug” (instead of default “ID”) how does the Plug-in working change?
This is equivalent to WordPress core permalink settings.
Slug:
https://lana.solutions/develop/download/test/
ID:
https://lana.solutions/develop/download/1942/
The type of download url changes.
