• How do I delete the changes I made to theme Twenty Seventeen and start over? I uploaded my own image and all the groovy swipes, and lots of other built-ins, disappeared. I’d like to start all over, but when I delete the theme and bring it up again, all my changes are still there and the goodies are all still missing. Thanks!

If you entered customizations via the Customizer and theme settings, then they’re stored in your database and not in your theme’s files. Work through the customizer and theme settings to unset what you earlier set.

I have never used this plugin, but I think it does what you want: https://wordpress.org/plugins/customizer-reset-by-wpzoom/

As Steve mentioned above, if you have made changes within the Customizer the data will be stored in the database separate from the theme files. You will have to either edit the data manually or use a plugin similar to what Steve shared.

If you truly want to start from scratch, plugins such as WordPress Database Reset will allow you to start again from the beginning. This will remove all content from your website, so only do this if you want to start completely fresh.

Wow, y’all are fast. I’m about to try the plugin. Will report back on results. Thank you!

The customizer reset didn’t work. I’m wondering if there’s a way to uninstall WordPress and then reinstall. I’m only at the very beginning of setting up my website. It would be easy at this point to redo. Thanks.

Use the plugin recommended by Ryan, above.
