Unable to create directory

  • I’ve searched and have found many people are having this problem, or have had this problem. Some were able to fix it but manually creating the upload directory under the wp-content directory. My problem is a bit different as I am using godaddy to host my site and purchased the domain from WP/Automattic: My specific error mesage is:

Unable to create directory /home/content/e/a/t/eatsigns/html/wp-content/uploads/2008/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

My domain is wtfsigns.com — not eatsigns; obviously the rror appears when I attempt to upload a file.

    My posts are fine otherwise.

  • if you already have an uploads directory you need to make sure it writable. if not, you need to make sure your wp-content directory is writable.

I don’t have an uploads directory and I can’t manually change the permissions on the wp-content directory. I just called GoDaddy and they said they could not do that through their database system.

This makes no sense because I’m certain there are at least SOME godaddy-hosted WP blogs out there. Any other ideas?

why cant you change the permissions on the wp-content directory?

    “Error — set permissions failed.”

FWIW, I can change the permissions for every directory except the wp-content directory. I even tried deleting the wp-content directory and starting anew. Deleting failed as well. Any ideas out there?

It´s seems to be an ownership problem.
