Support » Plugin: Custom Post Type UI » Unable to Create Custom Taxonomy Archive

    Hi there!

I have a site where I share courses, guides and tutorials on digital marketing tools. So I created three custom post types and one custom taxonomy with CPT UI.

The taxonomy is called Tool, to classify the articles by the tool they are covering, for example: Elementor, WordPress, etc. Then I thought it would be nice to add a custom archive for this taxonomy, so I can add an individual section for the courses, guides and tutorials available.

So in Elementor’s Theme Builder, in the display conditions area, I cannot see the tools archive. So I went to the CPT UI panel and found that there isn’t an option to create an archive for a custom taxonomy, as you have for the custom post type.

Is there a way to be able to create an archive for this? Just like any regular category and tag taxonomies.

Thanks is advance for your support and time.

Based on what I’ve seen, and based on what register_taxonomy() doesn’t offer for parameters, there’s no real setting to say “this taxonomy term has an archive”, WordPress just does it automatically for you. However, the caveat is that it’s not found at mydomain.com/taxonomy-slug/ like it is for mydomain.com/post-type-slug/. It’s the terms that get the archive, so mydomain.com/taxonomy-slug/term-slug/ The items listed there would be posts that have that term associated.

Give that a try and see what you’re experiencing there.
