• I have had a couple of issues with archiving;

    1) One time WordPress was running on a Windows IIS host and when I tried to unzip the files on a Linux box the folder structure was lost because all of the files had the slash the wrong way around so instead of /wp-content/foobar.txt unzipping foobar.txt into a wp-content folder it put a file called “wp-content\foobar.txt” into the target folder. I think I google it and this was a known problem with IIS so maybe there is a workaround/fix?

    2) The other day I was trying to create archives of some folders and it kept saying “Unable to create archive” in all cases. When I tried right click, download it also said the same error. These were only small folders and it gave the error immediately (so not a timeout issue). I ended up using the “backup” feature which worked fine except I had to manually some folders into a wp-content subfolder and then run the backup because the backup only backs up the wp-content folder and subfolders sadly 🙁

    For 2) it would be helpful to give some more information in the error message to help find the cause of the problem?

    I still have access to this site if you want me to run a test or something but I can’t grant access because it’s a client website.
