• Maximum PC, January 2007 issue, pages 55-57, give instructions for creating your own blog. I have since resolved issues getting WordPress to run (correctly). The last issue facing me is connection to my blog from the outside world. I can connect using my wife’s computer from our network. When trying to connect from outside our net, I get “no such site, etc, error, error, danger Will Robinson”. I have dropped the firewall and DMZd in the router, and still no luck. Any ideas?

Their are two URI values there — are they routable and reachable?

192.168.x.x is not, nor is localhost as examples.

A little simpler… Have you uploaded it to the actual internet or is it all on your computer?

I am trying to turn my desktop into a mini-server. I can scan the directions and post them. I thought I had it last night, because I was able to connect from an unsecure wireless, then something went wrong and now I get squat and when my wife went to work to try and connect, she got diddly. I have DynDns to route requests to the IP that I set up. eg., 192.168.x.000.

I have it on the computer, because I’m trying to set up my own mini server. I can pull up the site from my wife’s computer, but we share the LAN, so that is obvious.

If you need more answers just ask away.

We don’t really answer support questions about how to set up a server. Sorry.
When you have a server that is working – we can help you with any WP issues. If you cannot set up your server, buy a hosting package.
