Hi, I am unable to clear the AO cache after the update. Also, testing with pagespeed shows my server response time doubled.

I have rolled back to previous version and can delete cache again. AO cache folder has file permission 755. No sure what’s caused this but was working perfectly until i updated.

and you updated to 2.1.2 or to 2.2 @martychc23?

Hey Frank, new version was 2.2. I restored 2.1 and all is ok now.

Oh, i don’t think the server response time doubling was due to AO. I think it was just due to clearing cloudflare cache.

ok, did you try from the top menu-bar, or from the “save options & clear cache” button on the settings-page?

Both. The top bar gave some message about not being able to clear cache and to try from settings page. When i tried from setting page cache was not cleared.

weird .. any relevant information in your phperrorlog-file?

    Good day Frank,

I hope your well, it’s seems to be some teething problems with this latest revision. I have updated too and the cache seems not to delete. I noticed that at some point the cache file number reduced but did not clear fully. I have Cpanel access, maybe I could delete the file manually?

    morning clint;
that’s normal actually 🙂 if the number reduces, the cache clearing works. after the cache is emptied there’s some pre-loading going on to speed up things (considerably) 🙂

@martychc23: was this the case for you as well? I thought cache clearing didn’t work at all, but I might have misunderstood ..

    Hi Frank,

Maybe that what other people are seeing if their running lean sites.

indeed, I should add it to the FAQ 🙂

Don’t see any errors in cpanel error log. Cache didn’t clear at all either.

Cache didn’t clear at all either.

    * were there many files in the cache?
    * were some deleted and others not, or were not deleted at all?
    * is AO able to write new files to the cache?

    – about 30 files
    – nothing deleted
    – not sure, appears not which was my first thought so checked cache directly and is 755. But then reverting to previous version AO functions normally and all cache is cleared at once.

hmm … can’t reproduce on the sites I manage. Would to get to the bottom of this, but that would require your assistance, obviously. Are you up for that? If so; send me a mail (futtta-at-gmail-dot-com) to discuss how we can dive in! 🙂

Hey, i just tried the latest update you released 2.2.1. When i spidered my site i got the following in AO:

Cached styles and scripts 67 files, totalling 15678 Kbytes

I did the cache clear from AO settings and got the following:

Cached styles and scripts 24 files, totalling 1079 Kbytes

But it doesn’t go to 0 like it did before if i clear the cache again. Is this normal? Could i try manually deleting the css and js cache and see what happens?

Would be happy to work on this with you if needed.

EDIT: This is the message i get when using the clear cache button in admin bar:

“Your Autoptimize cache might not have been purged successfully, please check on the Autoptimize settings page.”

No such message, however, when deleting cache from within settings page.

it is; that’s the cache being preloaded to speed things up 🙂
