Unable to change default language for network

    Hi,

    it seems I cannot change the default language of my WP MS network (although I have English and German subsites). I found that the localization code in wp-config.php had been missing, and I put it in:
    define('WPLANG', 'de_DE');
    – but that did not help. Could you help me?

    I’m on shared hosting, WP 4.4.1 MS w/ subsites.

    So, I found out that the language setting for the root site determines the language of the network admin backend. Confusing… And I was told on the root settings page that “The WPLANG constant in your wp-config.php file is no longer needed.” Presumably, because I can set it there in the backend. Maybe a MS specialty.
