Since updating to 3.7.1 images will not add to my website’s pages.

    Here is what happens:
    1. Use the add media button
    2. Upload to the media gallery – it states “HTTP Error” (which is not new – this has always happened) and then looks as though the upload has been unsuccessful, however when I select the option to see images uploaded to “this page” the image is there
    3. Add the image to the page currently working on – and nothing happens. The curser moves over as if the image is there – but it is just blank space. When I look at the text editor the code for the picture is there – but it is not visible.

    – This was not an issue until I updated to 3.7.1.
    – I have tried Safari and Firefox and neither works
    – I have deactivated all plugins
    – I changed the storage folder under media settings to the default

    – I have not reverted to the default theme as I want to keep using the theme I have as I purchased it – I use the Agency Theme from Themes Force.

Any help would be much appreciated.. I’m not very savvy with this stuff.

I don’t have links to the error because the images simply are not visible when added to the pages so there is nothing to see. All images on my site were already there, uploaded prior to updating.

    Thanks in advance.

There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just the start of basic troubleshooting and is a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

Your theme & plugin settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use, so try:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thank you Esmi,

I tried switching to the default 2013 theme and it didn’t make a difference – the media still doesn’t show up when added to the page (which is good – I’m glad it’s not the theme I’ve bought that is the issue!)

I will try the other things you have suggested as well.

    Hi Esmi,

I reset the plugins folder by FTP and PhpMyAdmin on my work PC (from home I use a Mac)

Following this the images are still invisible in the visual editor (and so very hard to see what I’m doing!) however when I hit the preview button the image has added to the page – so there is progress.

I then tried on my home Mac &am unable to add images at all – again they are invisible in the visual editor and do not attach to the page when I preview it.

Even more strange, the images that I added to the pages using my PC are only visible when I view the website with my PC. If I look at my website using my Mac or my Samsung Galaxy mobile there is only a blank space where the photos are.

Are you (or anyone else) aware of issues like this, and how to fix?

    Many thanks,

    Further,

I have now completed all of the above suggestions –

“- switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.”

And continue to have the above issues.
*Invisible media in the visual editor
*Media only visible on my website when viewed from my PC – not from my Mac or smart phone

    Help…?

If any one else is having this issue, I have solved the problem.
For some reason, the images were being set automatically at width = 1 and height = 1 By simply deleting this from the text editor it solved the issue and now the images are visible on my website.
Surprisingly simple, I have no idea why the issue is there and will have to continue deleting width and height 1 manually for each image I add to a page – but at least the images are showing now.

Yes your are absolutely right have the same identical situation and the 1″ x 1″ is the culprit, how can this be fixed?

    Hi pazap,

Once I started manually deleting the 1 x 1 from the text editor for each new image I added – it just one day started automatically working again! Very odd, I didn’t change any settings but it appeared to just figure it out itself once I was manually changing it. Hope that works for you too!
