• I am by no means a wordpress expert but I’ve installed it on websites before and had no issue, so I’m perplexed. I’m using softaculous.

On my first installation attempt, the installation failed and I got an error which mentioned htaccess files. I thought it was a fluke so I signed out of c-panel then signed back in. Attempted the wordpress installation again and it was successful. However, wp-admin fails to load and gives me the error “no data received” on chrome. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times and keep getting the same error.

    Help?

  • I suggest contacting your hosting provider for this first, since the “no data received” error is a browser error and not from WordPress.

You may also want to try a manual update: https://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

    – Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
    – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging and post the results.
