My site was updated automatically to 4.8.2. Now all visitors to any page at outlanderkitchen.com receive this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/content/31/12434031/html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/admin/class-wordpress-popular-posts-admin.php on line 858

It looks like an error in a plugin, but I am unable to access the dashboard to deactivate it.

Can someone please advise me how to access my dashboard? Or whatever my first step should be?

    Much appreciated.

Via FTP, delete the directory wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts. That will get your site up. You can then reinstall the plugin.

I see that the plugin has been updated within the last few minutes. With luck, it’s a fix for your issue. If reinstalling has the same error, you could drop back to their last version. See https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/#developers

    Steve,

Thank you very much. I’m very out of date with all of this stuff, so I’m going to do some googling to figure out how to do what you suggest. It sounds like a relatively easy fix, once I understand exactly what it is I have to do.

    Theresa
