I was trying to make my wordpress site live for the first time. Godaddy sent me an email about how to do that(see below) and I logged into my wordpress account, went to the control panel settings and followed the instructions below...sort of. my site listed in my settings was knox-creative.com/worpress for both the URLs and then I changed both to knox-creative.com.
Here are the directions I sort of followed:
Log in to your original WordPress control panel.
    Click Settings.
Complete the following fields, and then click Save Changes:

WordPress address (URL) — Enter the fully-qualified domain name for your WordPress site's new location. For example, http://coolexample.com/new / where coolexample.com is your domain name and new is the new directory for your WordPress site.

NOTE: If you want to move your WordPress site to your root directory, do not enter a directory after your domain name.
Site address (URL) — Enter the same address you entered in the WordPress address (URL) field.

after i did this, when I go to login to my wordpress it shows an error. what can i do???? Please help

Those instructions really don't look right to me. They are certainly incomplete.

    Moving WordPress
    Changing the Site Url
    Giving WordPress Its Own Directory

Though I am not 100% sure, I think what you are actually needing to do is this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install

I ended up copying all of my /wordpress files into the root directory and it everything fell into place. I had done it before but I did not copy ALL of the files. I just gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for your help
