After intsalling a new theme (Blackbird), I clicked on activate and now I get the following message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_theme() in /home/grbprope/public_html/wp-content/themes/blackbird/functions/theme-options.php on line 7

I now can't even get into the dashboard. Does anyone know what to do?!

    Thanks

  2. You can disable the theme using ftp by renaming or deleting the wp-content/themes/blackbird folder. This will disable the theme and enable the default theme Twentyeleven.

In the future to use this theme you will need to update WordPress to the latest version 3.4.1

I had this happen as well, but deleting the Blackbird theme folder didn't work - my site is still blank.
    Please help!

I can't even get onto my site to delete the theme. How does ftp work?

I contacted my webhost and they have sorted it for me - back to default twentyeleven theme!

i've tried everything: deleting blackbird theme folder (& all themes except twenty eleven), reintalled wordpress (3.2.2), deleted plugins & renamed folder to plugins-holds, plus a host of other suggestions from:

why isn't the default twentey eleven displaying (my site is blank)?

    @Ceri_B @krisw

The reason you are getting this issue is because you don't have the latest WordPress Installed.

Once you update your WordPress to the latest version, your issue would be resolved automatically.

To regain access to the dashboard incase you had activated the theme on the older version of WordPress. Use your FTP Software and navigate to wp-content/themes directory. Either delete or rename the "blackbird" directory, which would deactivate the theme automatically.

Then goto your WordPress Dashboard, Update your WordPress Installation and Activate the Theme again, you will get everything to work normally.

    Thanks

@thisheartofoak: It is impolite to interrupt other posters' ongoing threads with a question of your own and it causes significant problems for the forum's volunteers. Please post your own topic.

@esmi: thanks for the heads up. since i had the same error, it thought it would be ok to post rather than duplicating the information.
sadly, still no luck on getting my site back.

Sorry, new to this and didn't realise you had to post before marking resolved. I used CPanel to rename the Blackbird folder which worked and defaulted back to custome theme. Thanks for your help.
