Support » Fixing WordPress » Unable to access ./admin-footer.php

  • I’ve just upgraded a site to 3.5.1 and some pages have errors at the bottom relating to ./admin-footer.php being missing while others are able to find it and the page displays normally.

When I upgrade I remove all the old files and upload new versions so no file is overwritten and therefore possibly corrupt or the old version. I have verified that the file exists and was uploaded as ascii.

Pages that are ok: dashboard, akismet stats

    Examples of Pages with errors:

    • wp-admin/options-general.php
    • wp-admin/upload.php
    • wp-admin/link-manager.php
    • wp-admin/edit-comments.php

    Any ideas?

  • try a re-install of the installed version’s /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/ folder via FTP (delete whole folder then upload clean unedited one)…run site but clear your local browser cache and cookies first (and after each step)…if not this, rename /wp-content/plugins/ folder to /wp-content/old-plugins/, if not that, make sure a default unedited theme is in place and rename each other theme folder found in /wp-content/themes/ to old-theme_folder_name.

At this point you have a default WP install so it’s a host issue or corrupt db (caused by?) so consult host for a recent full site backup…or, better keep those close at hand.
