• Hi,

I´m “using add metags” on my wordpress.
You can see my site here: http://www.rezepte-indonesien.de
It works fine so far, but when I´m typing in Umlauts, i get problems.

I also installed “o42-clean-umlauts”, which works fine for the site, but not for the umlauts.

I tried to type in the umlauts as “ü,ö” and they didn´t got transformed to &uuml,&ouml and showing up still as “ü,ö” in the cource text of the site.

Then I typed in directly in unicode &#-252;, &#-246;, (the “-” is just in to display what I typed in) but it didn´t work either. WordPress transforms them to ü, &amp#246;.

“o42-clean-umlauts” didn´t seem to have any influence on it, because I tested it with the activated and deactivated plugin, also I couldn´t find any transforming in the add metatag plugin PHP-file.

Does WordPress itself already transform the “&” somewhere and when, where can I find it (and kick this transforming out, or put the ä,ö,.. in?

Any idea, how to solve this problem?

    Thanks for any help,
    Marc

    sorry, for the double-posting.

Hi there, you could try installing tiny MCE advanced.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tinymce-advanced/
This gives you the option of using a button in visual editor to insert custom characters. It includes umlauts as “ü,ö”
I find it very useful, as I often have to write in German and Spanish.
    hope it helps you.
    mike.

PS. THe good thing about this, is that it brings up a character chart with the html code and the numeric unicode as well.
