Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » UK Channel Islands still in the EU?

One of our clients has today sold an item to the Channel islands, and the customer has been charged the full EU rate for delivery from the UK through WooCommerce, whereas (in the past) the Channel Islands have been included in the “United Kingdom (UK)” shipping zone.

Is this an abberation, or has the shipping zone been adjusted?

Although closely connected to the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands are not subject to the laws of the UK, and are not a part of the EU.

Although the Channel Isles does have its own laws and parliament, it is still technically part of the UK, yet the shipping rate charged in this instance by the WooCommerce plug-in rated the CI as part of the EU.

Some couriers do rate “Northern Ireland, the Channel Isles and the Isle of Man” (as well as the outer Scottish islands) separately from the rest of “mainland” Britain, but the PO does not.

Our client would like to repatriate the Channel Islands and save his customers the additional shipping charge.

Hi @thumper2015. The shipping zones are geographical regions so if you didn’t have a shipping zone for UK, the EU rate would apply as well. To have Guernsey, for example, use the shipping rates for the UK, you can explicitly add it to the shipping zone:

    I hope that helps!

Thanks Ena, we’ll look into that. The client has been shipping overseas for years, and this is the first time the Channel Islands have been segregated in this way. However, we’ll look at including separate zones for CI addresses in future.
