  • I’ll keep it simple. I’ve never had a problem with WP’s existing visual editor, it works perfectly, is clean and makes everything easy to understand. However Gutenberg turns the editor into a mix of confusing non-descript and cumbersome / overly large boxes and there seems to be no ‘Add Media’ button anymore so I don’t know how to access my custom Galleries (one for the plugin authors).

The block display also seems to consume my screen real estate and I find the whole experience to be very frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, I like change and have supported pretty much everything WP has done over the years, but I cannot see any benefit to adopting this into the WP core with v5.0. It’s fine as a plugin for those people who like this sort of nonsensical interface design, but not for me!

My sister also uses WordPress and she still can’t make head nor tails of it. PLEASE DO NOT FORCE THIS CHANGE ON US!!

@ispreview, firstly thanks for leaving a review. It’s true some users have no issue at all using the existing experience for editing. However, a lot do have an issue with it. It’s very important to remember this and make a WordPress for everyone we can.

This all said, every bit of feedback is important and listened to. The new editing experience is going through usability testing right now and will continue to evolve as it does.

Your feedback about the media button is interesting. You can access media by going through a block of image, gallery or media type. Would something like a tip or walkthrough of the new experience help discover this?
