• Hey all, fresh fish here, just ripping my hair out trying to figure out why my site is so slow (at least on my end.) Can some of you try it out and tell me if you feel the sluggishness I feel? I’ll post my tracert a little later, right now I need responses.

    Thanks to all that care!

  • Have you tried a few caching plugins, e.g. WP-cache?

    It looks slowish indeed.
Have you tried to disable your plugins and see if the problem originates there?

    Yeah I did WP-cache, I didn’t see any difference.

As for all the plugins, I’ll have to give that a shot, but I really don’t think that’s it, it was heavy from the get go. I keep trying to blame my web hosting company but they always says “i see no slow downs” by the time it gets to level 2 support.

My gut says it’s my hosting company and I have 4 more months with them. Any suggestions to what company I should go to next? Keep in mind I was paying 100 bucks a year for the domain and hosting.

    oTis,

Who is your hosting company? Wouldn’t want to recommend another hosting company that you might already be using. 🙂

    ipower.com

    Hmm, two questions, here :

    – have you opened your database with phpmyadmin, backupped it, and next selected all tables and chose “optimize” ?

    – was your blog slow even before wordpress 2.5 ?

    Thread Starter otisflick

    (@otisflick)

    1) nope. They changed my control pannel, not sure if I can even do that now, but I’ll try.

    2. I didn’t have a blog before wordpress.

    I’ll keep you posted.

You could try the optimize-db plug-in

Overhead 228 Bytes – (this was in red)

A few red marks in my db. I’ll try that plugin poiuz. I’m no db ninja so I hope that helps. I did however optimize my db but I don’t notice much of a difference.

Love that plugin, seems a little better, but just a little, it sure isn’t snappy though. I think I may just ride out these last 4 months, export my db, and take my toys elsewheres.

    Otis,

Seems like the speed of your site is better or at least it is from my end. Doesn’t seem sluggish any longer.

    Anyway

Since they upgraded all their servers I, my wife and several fellow WP bloggers have had good performance with Bluehost. Others have good luck with Dreamhost and of course there’s always the ones who have the same type of complaints about both. IMHO for a personal type blog with a fair amount of traffic I recommend either one.
