• This plugin works great, except for the ad for another plugin added to the home page. Why?

Were you bought out by MailOptin? Are you part of their network now? Are they on some mass advertising campaign? This is the second plugin that has added their intrusive ad on my home page. Not a big deal except for when you are managing many sites for many clients and it adds it to every site.

Fair warning, the other plugin I saw that did this took a hit to their rating because it annoyed a lot of people…

  • Click the dismiss button and the ad won’t ever show up again.

    Really… Really…

You had to infect this ad junk into other plugins. From my review on WP User Avatar a month ago:

I said… “As in, there won’t be any ads posing as notification in the future? If you make me that promise, it is worthy of a review change.”

    You responded… “Yes. That’s a promise.”

Yeah, then you go and do the same here.

If you had it dismissed in wp user avatar, it shouldn’t show up on your site again unless ofcoure they are different sites.

I can assure you, it will never happen again.

I think you missed the point of that conversation. What I was hoping would never occur again is ads masquerading as notifications in WordPress. Even the WordPress guidelines recommend against that.

“Advertising within the WordPress dashboard should be avoided, as it is generally ineffective.”
