Support » Plugin: My Custom Functions » typo in my coding now plugin crashes

I mistyped my code and it caused wordpress to crash, and I do not know how to get back into edit the code I was working on.

Even though written over 2 years ago, I tried following the directions here: https://mycyberuniverse.com/my-custom-functions-plugin-causes-site-failure.html – but I do not have a php inserter in admin settings menu any longer, plugin is there but will not allow me to activate it.

Is there a simple method to get into the WP database to retrieve my coding and edit it there?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Dear @allaboutrdr2 ,

Thank you for contacting us and providing feedback on the issue you are experiencing. We’re sorry that you have this issue.

Your custom code (which you entered on the plugin settings page) is causing a fatal error, and because of this, WordPress does not allow you to activate the plugin to keep your website from crashing.

Just rename the file called START to STOP. This will stop the execution of your custom code. After this you can activate the plugin. And when you fix your custom code, you can rename the STOP file back to START.

Full instructions can be found here: https://mycyberuniverse.com/my-custom-functions-plugin-fails-activate-failure.html

Please try this and let us know. Thank you!

Not sure why it worked this time and not the 5 times I tried before – but all is well now, thank you.
