    All plugin authors have to make sure their custom fields (and function names, and file names) are unique -- to avoid conflicts with other plugins.

    They also need to be able to look at and work with all of their fields, without looking at any other author's fields.

    One of the best ways of doing that is to use a (hopefully unique) prefix.

    'wpcf' might not be the absolute best prefix, since any author might pick wpcf for their 'WordPress custom field'; but 'typescfacptm_' (from Types - Custom Fields and Custom Post Types Management) is even more unwieldy, isn't it?

    You can try adding custom field under Types control.

    1. Create custom field without prefix on post edit screen using WP built-in custom field editor (meta box Custom Fields).

    2. Go to screen:
    Types->Custom Fields Control

    2. Select some field not created by Types (marked 'Not under Types control' on 'Type' column)

    3. Use bulk actions dropdown to add to Types control
    Bulk Actions -> 'Add to group'

    Custom field without prefix should be added to selected group as Textfield (Single line).
