That could be because you are on localhost. Have you tried moving it to a live server? We saw Google maps API do strange things several times on localhosts.

I have the same problème with my geodirectory and I can’ty figure out how to resolve it as I need jquery latest version much higher than waht we’ve got in wordpress default install.
